NCDTech Disaster Recovery Strategies

• HOT sites are fully-equipped mirrors of existing data centers. They have the infrastructure – including cooling, network connectivity, servers, switches, and storage equipment – needed to go live almost instantaneously. NCDTech continuously synchronizes hot sites with data centers to prevent loss of information and time.

• WARM sites have cooling and electrical capacity, as well as communications equipment for immediate connectivity. NCDTech can stock warm sites with servers and storage equipment for back-up use, but typically warm sites depend on back-ups stored offsite. Warm sites can be up and running in two to seven days.

• COLD sites are fallback locations, removed from the original data center, where NCDTech can build an emergency facility. In addition to a live image and backup of your server stored off site, a cold site has space, cooling and electrical equipment necessary to build a new data center, but IT equipment is not kept at a cold site, and no data measures are taken for quick duplication or recovery. Recovery time can range from as soon as one week to never at all, if the disaster is catastrophic enough to destroy all your organization’s equipment and data.
